The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Stories One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
